Safari Itinerary
Day 1
Day 1: Mombasa/Diani to Tsavo East National Park
Pick-up & Drive to Tsavo East:
Early morning pick-up from your Mombasa or Diani hotel. Depart for Tsavo East National Park, known for its vast open plains, red-soil elephants, and stunning wildlife.
Enjoy views of the countryside as you approach the park.
Arrival & Morning Game Drive:
Arrive at the park and immediately begin a morning game drive as you enter Tsavo East.
Tsavo East Highlights: Look for the famous “red elephants” dusted in the red soil, and other wildlife such as buffaloes, zebras, lions, cheetahs, and giraffes. You may also spot the park’s unique bird species like weavers and kingfishers.
Lunch & Relaxation:
Arrive at your lodge or camp in time for lunch. After a rest, head out for an afternoon game drive.
Afternoon Game Drive:
Continue exploring Tsavo East with a focus on wildlife viewing around the Galana River, which attracts a wide variety of animals.
Lugard Falls: Visit Lugard Falls, where the Galana River passes through rocky gorges, and spot crocodiles along the riverbanks.
Transfer to Tsavo West:
In the late afternoon, transfer to Tsavo West National Park, known for its rugged landscape and volcanic formations.
Dinner & Overnight in Tsavo West:
Arrive at your lodge in Tsavo West and enjoy dinner followed by a relaxing evening at the camp or lodge.
Day 2
Day 2: Tsavo West to Mombasa/Diani
Morning Game Drive in Tsavo West:
Start your day with an early morning game drive in Tsavo West. The park’s hilly terrain and volcanic features create a unique backdrop for wildlife sightings.
Mzima Springs: Visit Mzima Springs, a series of crystal-clear pools that serve as a water source for the park’s wildlife. Watch hippos and crocodiles through an underwater viewing chamber.
Rhino Sanctuary:
Continue to the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary, a protected area within the park dedicated to the conservation of the endangered black rhino. Look out for rhinos along with other wildlife such as elephants, zebras, and lions.
Breakfast & Final Game Drive:
Return to your lodge for breakfast and check out. Enjoy a final game drive as you exit Tsavo West, with a chance to spot more wildlife including leopards, hyenas, and various bird species.
Drive Back to Mombasa/Diani:
Begin your return journey to Mombasa/Diani after the morning’s game drive, with an optional stop for lunch along the way.
Drop-off:
Arrive in Mombasa or Diani in the late afternoon, marking the end of your safari adventure.
