Safari Itinerary
Day 1
Day 1: Nairobi to Lake Naivasha
Pick-up & Drive to Lake Naivasha:
Morning pick-up from your Nairobi hotel or airport. Begin your journey to Lake Naivasha, a freshwater lake located in the Great Rift Valley.
Enjoy scenic views of the Rift Valley Escarpment along the way.
Arrival & Lunch:
Arrive at your lodge or hotel by Lake Naivasha in time for lunch. Take in the serene views of the lake.
Boat Ride & Crescent Island Tour:
In the afternoon, enjoy a boat ride on Lake Naivasha, where you can spot hippos and various bird species like fish eagles and kingfishers.
Crescent Island: Disembark on Crescent Island for a guided walking safari. The island offers the rare chance to walk among giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and antelopes, as no predators are present on the island.
Dinner & Overnight:
Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay by the lake.
Day 2
Day 2: Lake Naivasha to Masai Mara
Morning at Lake Naivasha:
After breakfast, enjoy a leisurely morning with options for further exploring the lake area or relaxing at the lodge.
Optional activities include a nature walk or cycling in Hell’s Gate National Park, known for its dramatic cliffs and geothermal activity (optional).
Drive to Masai Mara:
Depart Lake Naivasha and drive to Masai Mara National Reserve, one of the most famous wildlife reserves in Africa, known for its vast savannahs and abundance of wildlife.
Arrival & Afternoon Game Drive:
Arrive in Masai Mara and check into your lodge or tented camp. After lunch, set out for an afternoon game drive to start spotting the diverse wildlife.
Masai Mara Highlights: You may see elephants, lions, zebras, giraffes, and buffaloes as you explore the plains. The vastness of the reserve offers numerous opportunities for wildlife sightings.
Dinner & Overnight:
Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3
Day 3: Full Day in Masai Mara
Morning Game Drive:
Start your day early with a morning game drive. This is the best time to see predators such as lions, leopards, and cheetahs as they are more active in the cooler hours.
Breakfast & Full-Day Game Drive:
After breakfast, head out for a full-day game drive with a packed lunch. Explore the different regions of the Masai Mara, from the riverine forests to the open plains.
Masai Mara Highlights:
Big Five Safari: Search for the “Big Five” – lions, elephants, leopards, rhinos, and buffaloes.
The Great Migration: If traveling between July and October, you may witness the world-famous wildebeest migration as they cross the Mara River, often facing crocodile-infested waters.
Mara River: Spot hippos and crocodiles basking in the river.
Optional Maasai Village Visit:
Visit a Maasai village to experience the culture and traditions of the Maasai people (optional).
Dinner & Overnight:
Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4
Day 4: Masai Mara to Nairobi
Morning Game Drive:
Optional early morning game drive to catch any wildlife you may have missed on the previous days.
Breakfast & Departure:
After breakfast, check out from your lodge and begin your journey back to Nairobi.
Drive Back to Nairobi:
Arrive in Nairobi in the afternoon, where you will be dropped off at your hotel or the airport.
